Often mistaken for the Qantas Club Lounge in Sydney, the domestic business class lounge is a completely different space altogether.
The space itself is smaller than the Qantas Club lounge, the furnishings and food and beverages are also slightly different. We visited at breakfast time.
We visited at breakfast time, so there were lots of eggs! Eggs seem to be a predominant feature of breakfasts around the world, which is good because we love eggs!
Quick Index Qantas Sydney Domestic Business Lounge
The lounge is located in the domestic terminal in Sydney. For Australians it is quite annoying that if you don’t live in Sydney, you sometimes have to collect your own bags and re-check them in! First world problems, we know! If you’re lucky, sometimes your airline will do it for you. After immigration, turn left, go up the escalators and look for the lounge signs for all airlines. Qantas and Qantas Club arrows will point you in different directions.
Qantas business class dress code
Quite a lot of people can use this lounge. Before you get dressed though, please read our guide of what to wear and what not to wear! How embarrassing if you get refused entry because you’re not properly dressed! Just because You have been warned. No one wears a suit anymore.
Who can Get In
Passengers of Oneworld alliance airlines such as Emirates and China Eastern can access the Qantas Sydney business class lounge. Anyone with a Qantas or Jet star business class ticket has access too. However, if you’re flying Emirates, we prefer Emirates’ lounges. They’re a cut above. Sorry Qantas, but it’s true!
Check the table below, to see if you’re getting in or getting booted out!
Upon Entering
As you walk in, the overwhelming colour palette is muted soft grey, white and cream. You will have the familiar wooden magazine wall displaying reading material you are welcome to take on board your flight. The hanging ceiling to table globes will also be reminiscent of Qantas lounge decor. Long stone tables covered in
Are you getting in to the Qantas Sydney Domestic Business Class Lounge?
Does it look like an industrial space? Some people dislike the hard flooring areas in the domestic lounge in Sydney. What do you think?
Seating
The lounge is roughly split into a quiet and a not so quiet area. Breakfast is quite a busy time for most lounges. Sydney is the lounge that most people will use if their final destination is Melbourne, like us.
Similar to other Qantas lounges, there are different types of seating available. Bar stools for those propping up the bar and comfortable, padded armchairs for relaxing in. Swivel office type chairs and padded dining room chairs. The soft furnishings are fabric blue, brown leather (could be faux leather) and black leather (again probably faux leather). There are also some abstract designed padded armchairs in black and white.
Look around your seats and you will find power outlets. They are in the tables, near the armchairs and near the long tables.
Bathrooms and Showers
There are shower rooms, so if it isn’t busy, just walk straight in. There’s no need to book, just look at the doors for the familiar green vacant symbol.
The shower gel, conditioner and shampoo are from the Li’tya Australian organics range. Li’tya means “of the Earth”. They are a small company based in the state of Victoria and use native Australian botanical ingredients in their products.
Food and Beverages
The Breakfast
As our visit to the lounge coincides with breakfast. Unfortunately no lunch or dinner offerings for Only1invillage!
It’s buffet dining for breakfast at the Sydney qantas domestic lounge. Being in Australia, we expect the full greasy English breakfast and the healthy options which include chia seeds and make your own juices. You can have classic cereals such as Weetbix and corn flakes too. The carbs, where pre sliced bread is available, and cereal sections are separated from the other breakfast items.
Fresh fruit and ready made mini muesli cups are on a separate island, away from the full English breakfast.
Eggs, you always see eggs in business class lounges. However, we have yet to come across an egg station where the chef will poach an egg for you, while you wait!
Whilst not up to the taste and presentation of an Emirates business class lounge, the food is still good quality. Nothing is inedible. We tried a lot of the food. All in the interests of fair reporting you understand!
beverages
It’s time for J to prop up the bar and C to get her latte from the barista bar. Since it’s breakfast though, the only cocktail you’ll be ordering is a cocktail of caffeine. Alcohol is only served after midday. As Qantas is an Australian lounge, and you can hold out until 12.01 pm, you can order a pale ale by Little Creatures, a Perth based company. The wines are good quality and the spirits are the well known international brands.
Final Thoughts
The staff were great. The food options could do with some made to order options like in the international lounge. It’s definitely more cosy than the Qantas Club Sydney Lounge which is very large and can get very noisy when busy. Definitely visit if you have the time. If you’re flying on an Emirates ticket though on business class, we would go to the Emirates Lounge.

The Qantas Club Sydney business class lounge gets its first review post Covid. This lounge is for passengers flying domestically or connecting from an international flight outside of Australia. Providing a little exclusivity before your Qantas or Jetstar flight, the Qantas Club Sydney lounge is a welcoming space to get that pre flight luxury experience before boarding in Australia. If you have been to any Qantas International lounges within Australia, you will notice a few differences, mainly the food and beverages on offer and the bathrooms.
Anyone holding a business class ticket flying with Qantas domestically. International connections with Emirates ticket holders also gain access. If you have Qantas Club membership or have received a Qantas lounge pass you can also come in! Any OneWorld member who holds Emerald or Sapphire status regardless of which cabin class you’re flying can access the Sydney lounge too. One World airlines include Emirates, Japan Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finn Air, Qatar Airways, American Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Royal Jordanian, Sri Lankan Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Alaska and Iberia. The Qantas Club lounge is the most accessible lounge sitting below the Qantas Domestic Business Class Lounge.
How big is the Qantas Club Sydney Lounge?
It is big, really big almost as big as the Qantas International lounge in Sydney. If you want to compare images read our review here.
Food and beverages in the qantas club sydney lounge
Probably the biggest difference you will notice is the food quality and the presentation. Like its other siblings in Melbourne, Brisbane and Cairns the Qantas Club lounge in Sydney is not the Michelin star experience you would get at a restaurant.
The food and beverage selection is extensive with a range of hot and cold dishes, snacks, and drinks including alcoholic beverages.
Food comes in industrial style metal containers and there are help yourself, make yourself style sandwiches! If you need a break from work or studying, there’s a well-stocked snack bar where you can grab a coffee, tea or a tasty pastry.
There are no a la carte made to order dishes available unlike in international business class lounges and the Qantas Sydney International Lounge itself which is totally separate.
Seating options
The seating areas allows for both privacy and social interaction. The lounge offers a variety of comfortable seating options including armchairs, sofas, and dining tables. The seating options are coloured in red, beige, light and dark grey.
The work station computer chairs are wooden and hard on metallic legs with wheels. Padded bar stools are also an option along the communal bench/ bar style seating areas. Overall, the lounge provides a relaxing and comfortable space for passengers to wait for their flights.
The ambiance is modern, comfortable and trendy, with a few real plants breaking up the spaces, bright white walls and plenty of natural light streaming in from large windows. The signature white and grey marble adorns the eating areas. The flooring is a mixture of striped carpet, industrial grey tiles and laminate wood flooring.
Freshen up in the Sydney Qantas club lounge
You can recharge your brain cells and relax in the lounge area where you can watch TV, read a book or play some games.
The co-working space has a friendly and welcoming vibe for an airport lounge. You could actually hold an informal meeting here. But who does that nowadays, use a business class lounge for business?! There are also workstations with charging points and high-speed Wi-Fi for those who need to catch up on work or emails.
The Pros and cons of the Qantas Club Sydney lounge
The lounge is always bustling with people, which can make it difficult to find a place to sit or to have a conversation without being interrupted by the noise. Additionally, the overall atmosphere of the lounge lacks a sense of luxury or exclusivity, making it feel more like a generic waiting area than a premium lounge experience. While the Qantas lounge may offer some basic amenities and services, it falls short in providing a truly exceptional experience for its premium passengers.
If you’re looking for some peace and quiet or delicious food, the Qantas Club lounge may not be the best choice. However, if you simply want a bright and comfortable space to wait for your flight, it’s worth considering.
We were pretty happy spending an hour in the Qantas Club Sydney lounge. The coffee alone and the padded chairs are way more comfortable than slumming it with the crowds outside! Yes, you can buy better food from the terminal restaurants, but the beverages are not complimentary! Think of it as a cafe break with a great bathroom and you will not be disappointed. Do not go inside with pre conceptions of being spoilt with gourmet food and an eclectic and diverse wine list. Enjoy the views of the planes and the great coffee.

London Heathrow is one of the world’s busiest airports. In Europe, it certainly is the place to connect to destinations across the globe. When you’re flying long haul from either East or West to Europe, chances are you’ll be connecting in London Heathrow. The Qantas lounge London Heathrow (terminals 1, 2 and 3) is just one of a selection, jostling for your attention. Other top airlines will be Emirates, Singapore Airlines and of course British Airways.
There is no separate lounge for first class customers at the Qantas lounge London Heathrow. Sorry, you have to slum it with the business class passengers. Life can be hard sometimes!
Qantas Lounge London Heathrow overview
The Qantas lounge can get very busy! On two separate visits there was hardly any sitting room on the upper level and the Australian rugby team were taking up space on another! It was very difficult to relax and the level of noise was quite high, with families with young children adding to the din.
The lounge seemed to be serving all the passengers on the A380 London to Singapore flight, because the lounge emptied out pretty swiftly half an hour before take off for the evening 20:40 scheduled 13 hour flight.
Meant to reflect a private members club, the Qantas London lounge Heathrow has a mix of Australian and British accents on the furniture, fixtures and fittings. Yes, there is carpet, a very English floor covering. It’s meant to add a cosy touch, but, personally we prefer the hard stuff, like wood and stone. Thankfully there is parquet and other smooth surfaces to walk across!
You might notice some similarities between the Singapore, Hong Kong and Brisbane business class lounges. The large amount of marble used for the bar areas seems to be a Qantas accent. The seating is a mix of stylish padded chairs that almost look like armchairs, dining chairs, bar stools and sofas. There are some real armchairs too.
If you have an earlier flight there is some natural light, coming through the windows. The plane spotting is very good from the red leather seats.
It’s hard to see out of the windows at night, but at least there is natural light in the London lounge. There are tarmac views from both levels of the lounge.
There is a separate restaurant dining area with booth like seating and waiter service. Quieter areas for lone travellers face the tarmac on the lower floor. However, as it was dark there was no plane spotting to be had.
Eligibility Qantas London Lounge Heathrow
Qantas is part of the One World Alliance which means you will get access to this lounge if you’re a top tier frequent flyer with airlines such as American Airlines, Emirates, Qatar, Japan Airlines, Malaysian and Cathay Pacific.
If you hold a QF ticket you cannot use the Emirates Lounge which would be our preference, even though Emirates are part of the One World Alliance. Sorry Qantas, although we love you, Emirates is just a step above in the food and beverage quality in our experiences in Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne and Dubai.
So how will the Qantas business lounge Heathrow stack up against its rivals? Read on to find out! There is no time limit in the lounge, but the annoying thing about any lounge is that you’re not allowed to check in for your flight until 3 hours before the flight leaves. Luckily, the check in queue for non economy is always shorter!
Lower floor Qantas London lounge Heathrow
The Qantas business lounge Heathrow has two floors. A dedicated gin bar on the lower floor and a general dining and relaxing area that comes with another bar on the upper floor. On the lower floor, you can also eat your a la carte food options at the bar itself on stools.
Seating
On the lower floor of the Qantas Lounge London Heathrow you can sit around the bar and eat the a la carte food or you can sit at tables which encircle (well rectangle, but that’s not a word to en-rectangle!) the bar. There are also padded long bench seats which face the bar where you eat your ordered food in comfort at the right table height level.
If you’re lucky, you can opt to sit on a padded restaurant chair on the lower floor.
Upper floor Qantas lounge London Heathrow
The upper floor is where it can get really crowded. After eating your a la carte meal you may want to try and stretch out upstairs. There is another bar here too so you don’t have to go back downstairs!
The help yourself drinks bar has the wine and soft drinks on the upper level. For cocktails and mocktails, you have to order at the bar.
There is also flavoured water and Dilmah teas. Or, your own tisane in a cute tea pot!
The upper floor has the help yourself selection of food. Reasonably well presented for the side options. It’s always very hard to make the hot dishes look great in those silver keep warm vessels that all lounges and 5 star hotels use. You know the ones where you lift up the glass lid to take a better look at the food, even though you can see it through the transparent lid!
There is a small strip of an area on the upper floor where you can conduct business. We spotted a printer and socket points with chairs. Unfortunately, the lounge was so busy some people had to use this area to put their food and drinks!
Qantas Lounge London Heathrow Drinks Menu
The food and beverages have sometimes been disappointing in Qantas lounges, but only because we are comparing it to their rivals. The wines were about nine pounds in quality per bottle, whereas the wine in an Emirates lounge will start at fifteen pounds per bottle.
The drinks menus outside of wine was good with a nice selection of cocktails and gins. However the non alcoholic cocktails are plain and boring. The bar tender pictured put his finger in the glass to stop the foam forming on the top! Had he not heard of basic hygiene? He also seemed a little irritated as the demand for service was high and he was on his own.
There were a couple of private rooms which had a door you could close off. These rooms were mainly being used by families.
The dinner menu
We are happy to report that the western food is much better than we have previously experienced in Melbourne and Sydney international business class lounges. It was good to experience the dinner food, since we usually have early flights and only get the breakfast menu. The service was swift to get the food but to get the staff’s attention involved a lot of smiling and trying to get eye contact due to the number of people using the lounge in the evening.
Roast chicken, Lancashire hot pot and salt and pepper squid were on the dinner menu. As is the current trend, something from the land and something from the sea. The vegetable dishes sounded equally enticing with roasted cauliflower or a tomato, basil and mozzarella salad on offer.
The squid whilst good could have been crispier. The presentation was good.
To do justice to the review it is only fair that we eat different meals and sample as many dishes as we can. Here is the Lancashire hot pot lamb which is basically a meat stew. Served with mint sauce and a rocket and pear salad which was very refreshing!
The washroom and shower facilities
It’s time for the anticipated bathroom pictures. Named the Refresh space it contains products from the Liptiya range which are in the business class amenity kits.
The shower area at the Qantas London lounge Heathrow was too small. There were only 10 showers. We got in early and did not have to queue. By 7pm queues were forming outside the showers. Not exactly a relaxing experience, knowing people are waiting for you to finish your ablutions. In Europe, everything is smaller and more condensed into a smaller space – the same must be true of Qantas lounges.
The space is mostly white. The mirror is quite funky and unique. Pictured below is the common bathroom, not the individual shower room.
Final Thoughts
Our thoughts on this London lounge are generally positive. We like the extensive menu options. The layout of the London Heathrow lounge is quite unique being on 2 floors. The cleanliness and funky design of the bathrooms impressed. Even though there wasn’t much natural light and the run way views were limited, at least there were some. The gin bar and the inventive cocktails are amazing. We wish the wine selection were just a notch higher. Overall though of course it’s way better to spend three hours in the Qantas London lounge at Heathrow than outside with the masses.

Often touted as the premier lounge for business class travellers. Strange, given that Qantas is an Australian airline. It must be because Changi Airport Singapore is widely regarded as the best airport in the world, regardless of which class you travel. We have updated our blog after a recent visit in August 2022. There are even more pictures to look at. Keep scrolling!
The tiny island state (well actually, Singapore has more than one island) has typically produced a gleaming, world class lounge. One expects nothing less than clean and organised, when in Singapore. Let’s see if the Qantas Singapore business lounge lives up to all the hype.
the Qantas Singapore Business Class Lounge Location
The lounge is located in Terminal 1 Changi Airport. After you clear immigration you turn left and follow the signs to airport lounges. Go up the escalators and voila. Everyone has to share the lounge including First Class passengers! First Class passengers used to have a separate lounge, now they must slum it with the business class people!!
Qantas business class dress code
Quite a lot of people can use this lounge. Before you get dressed though, please read our guide of what to wear and what not to wear! How embarrassing if you get refused entry because you’re not properly dressed! Just because Singapore is hot and humid and you have been in your flip flops/ thongs for a week, doesn’t mean you can wear them into a Qantas lounge. You have been warned.
Who can Get In
Passengers of Oneworld alliance airlines such as Emirates and China Eastern can access the Qantas Singapore business class lounge.
As you walk in, it seems huge! The modern furniture and clever lighting make the lounge very inviting. The Qantas Singapore business class lounge is one big, open plan space. There are a couple of wooden slat ‘walls’ and plant dividers breaking up the space.
Does it look like an industrial space?
The cocktails are back on the menu in August 2022! Somewhat surprisingly, you couldn’t get a Singapore Sling!
Some people have commented that the Qantas Singapore lounge is very industrial and sterile. Well, Singapore is known to be clean. Whether you think it’s industrial is a matter of individual taste. Gone are the sofas due to physical distancing rules and a little thing called a global pandemic. Restrictions are however easing slowly, a little bit at a time. By August 2022, the entire lounge had been re opened.
Seating
The lounge is roughly split into a quiet and a not so quiet area. This isn’t to say it’s raucous on one side! The dining side will naturally be a little louder than the business and reading side. However when we visited we were the first people in and only a total of 6 people turned up in 2 hours. The staff to customer ratio was pretty good! It was very quiet indeed as the pictures below show.
Similar to other Qantas lounges, there are different types of seating available. Bar stools for those propping up the bar and comfortable, padded armchairs for relaxing in. (Due to Covid 19 physical distancing rules, the bar service meant drinks were delivered to you at your chosen seat. Sorry no propping up the bar and talking to the bar tender anymore!)
At the tables, near the buffets, there are harder chairs with non padded backs.
Near the self serve bar area (in the olden days!) there are low, white armchairs with square tables in front of them of them.
Look around your seats and you will find power outlets. They are in the tables, near the armchairs and near the long tables.
Bathrooms and Showers
There are 20 shower rooms, so if it isn’t busy, just walk straight in. There’s no need to book, just look at the doors for the familiar green vacant symbol.
Each shower room is scrubbed cleaned to the high hygiene standards one expects of Singapore.
The shower gel, conditioner and shampoo are from the Li’tya Australian organics range. Li’tya means “of the Earth”. They are a small company based in the state of Victoria and use native Australian botanical ingredients in their products.
Food and Beverages
The dinner
As our visit to the lounge coincides with dinner we don’t get to sample lunch or breakfast. Ah, what a shame.
As in Qantas’s other business class lounges there are special dishes of the day cooked to order. This is a good option if you don’t fancy anything from the buffet. Being in Singapore, we expect a noodle or rice dish of some sort, or, maybe even both. The signature chicken laksa is a must try when in Singapore as the saying goes. Well actually it’s when in Rome, but, food is food!
The signature bao was on the dinner menu on a different visit.
The salad bar or vegetable side dishes are impressive. There is a choice of carrot salad with roast chicken cinnamon and wilted spinach or pomegranate, chickpea salad with pistachio.
Also on offer is a tomato salad or a green salad with Neil’s vinaigrette dressing. That would be Neil Perry by the way a famous Australian chef. Two more salads to list are the Italian slaw and the green vegetable salad with lemon vinaigrette. That was a bit of a mouthful!
Whilst not up to the taste and presentation of an Emirates business class lounge, the food is still good quality. Nothing is inedible. We tried a lot of the food. All in the interests of fair reporting you understand!
We were too full for dessert, but here is the menu! It sounded really good.
On a visit in August 2022, the dessert menu had changed. This time we indulged in some panna cotta and the cheese plate. The cheese plate was a bit underwhelming.
beverages
It’s time for J to prop up the bar and C to get her latte from the barista bar. Since we’re in Singapore, you get Tiger beer on tap. As Qantas is an Australian lounge, you get a pale ale by Little Creatures, a Perth based company. The wines are good quality and the spirits are the well known international brands.
Final Thoughts
The staff were fabulous, they outnumbered the guests. The service was polite, efficient, friendly and not too in your face. Having been to the Qantas First Class lounge in Melbourne, which we found to be a little small, the Singapore lounge lived up to its reputation. First class passengers won’t be disappointed. The lack of natural light was a bit disappointing and some tarmac views would have been better than terminal views. The WiFi was strong and there were plenty of power outlets. You’ll definitely want to unwind in the Qantas Singapore lounge for at least an hour. Definitely visit if you have the time.

First Impressions of the Qantas First Class Lounge in Melbourne
It was really difficult to find the First Class lounge in Melbourne. It is in a separate location to the business class lounge and Amex Lounge. It is also no where near the Emirates Lounge in Melbourne. You need to use a separate lift/ elevator too! Despite following the signs, we still had to ask an airport worker (and there were not many around) for the location of the lounge.
Don’t forget flying during Covid is going to have a bit of an effect. The first major disappointment was the closure of the spa. What do you mean no massage treatment?? Even British Airways offered a free 15 minute treatment but that was in the good old days, before the C word!
Now let’s have a closer look at the Qantas First Lounge
The lounge Overview and seating
The second thing we are struck by is the size of the Qantas First lounge. The size of the lounge isn’t great, but is probably tailored correctly to the number of first class passengers on an international flight. It will never get crowded since access is quite difficult. It is not worth upgrading to a first class ticket just to use this Qantas First Class Lounge in Melbourne. Let’s be clear about that!
The lay out is spacious and it feels a lot more exclusive than the business class lounge. We like the fact that there are more walled off areas, adding a sense of privacy.
The seats are more stylish and show no signs of wear and tear. The chairs and sofa could actually be leather. We had a sniff, but the jury is still out, there are some very good faux leather materials out there you know! We’ll wait for Qantas to read our review and respond!
You also get a better view, as in a tarmac view. The Melbourne International Business Class Lounge is artificially lit to the max due to its location. The Qantas First Lounge, on the other hand has a huge expanse of glass on two sides, allowing plenty of natural light to flood in.
The business facilities
The last thing you want to do is work in a lounge right? Qantas will provide you a separate work area, should the need arise. You even get your own conference and meeting room. We wonder how many people have actually used this space since the furniture looks extra new! In case you’re wondering, the Wi-Fi signal is strong.
Food and Drink
What you get in food and beverages is not that different to the Melbourne International Business Class lounge that we have also reviewed. What you do get is a sense of exclusivity, as the Qantas First Lounge has a separate restaurant like dining area. The staff are better dressed and more attentive to your needs. The seating area looks like a modern restaurant with very comfortable dining chairs. As you can see from the pictures, it was not a busy time.
The alcoholic beverages are all top shelf quality. The food is made to order. As it was breakfast there was no salt and pepper calamari to order. This is apparently the dish you must try!
The breakfast menu was ok. It wasn’t that different to the business class lounge. In fact the most interesting made to order dish was very similar to one we have tried before. On offer were, pancakes with fresh fruit, a cooked breakfast, a toasted ham and cheese brioche, a quinoa salad with poached egg and avocado or Bircher muesli.
Nothing is buffet style due to Covid 19. Gone are the days of the heated lamps and tongs to help yourself. The only signs are social distancing and hand hygiene reminders. It goes without saying a mask is obligatory.
Bathroom and shower facilities
The shower suites have more character in the Qantas First Lounge in Melbourne than the business class one. The tiles are less sterile, being a warm stone colour and more like a bathroom.
But, that was of course pre-covid! Pump size organic shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand wash are standard. The brand is L.U.E. a cosmetics company called LaGaia which makes Organic babycare products. A 500ml of body cream is $52 AUD. If the spa were open, these are the products that you would be slathered all over you.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Qantas First Lounge was a pleasant experience. It was good because there was not a children’s play area, complete with noisy little people. It has the same facilities as the business class lounge and so an upgrade is definitely not worth it. The lounge is smaller but also quieter. If you value peace and quiet the most, it’s a great pre-flight experience. Had we visited at lunch time, perhaps the menu would be more exciting. Time to book the next flight!

Quick Index Qantas International Business Lounge Cairns
What is the Cairns Qantas Club business class lounge like?
Cairns is an international destination with connecting flights from Singapore, Tokyo, Port Moresby, Shenzen and Auckland to name a few. This review is for the domestic lounge. Qantas Club members can access this lounge. If you have a complimentary pass issued by a credit card company, this will be your lounge at Cairns domestic terminal. The Cairns domestic lounge is reasonably spacious and has the usual neutral colour palette of other Qantas lounges both in Australia and around the world. Snacks and light options are available throughout the day. There are both hot and cold options. Full bar service (after 12pm) and barista made coffee for beverage options.
Seating and Wi-fi
All Qantas business class lounges offer comfortable seating and a place to charge your devices. It also has a dedicated office area complete with printer and photocopier.
There are lounge style type chairs, chairs and tables, bench seating, armchairs and stools.
Like the Qantas Club in Melbourne you can choose to be more familiar with people or distance yourself!
The best seats have to be the ones by the window, where you can watch the planes ascend against a green mountain background.
The worst seats are the hard wooden seats, but they are the best height for eating at, think more dining chairs than armchairs.
Conducting Business
Believe it or not, some people actually use a business class lounge to conduct business! There is a printer available, but, we have never seen anyone use a printer in a business class lounge.
Plenty of people have their laptops out, checking e mails and browsing the Internet. Whether they are actually working is anyone’s guess. There are charging points at a ratio of about 1:4 seats. Wi-Fi is automatic, there is no need to ask for a code. As soon as you enter the Qantas Club lounge in Cairns your device will pick up the Wi-Fi.
Children’s Play Area
If the little ones are tagging along, there is a good space for them to play and run around.
Food options
Similarly to other domestic lounges in Australia for the Qantas Club, the food is not as good as the non Qantas Club lounge. On the plus side, there is a range of hot and cold options. If you’re inventive, you can put together a complete meal with hot soup for a starter!
If you arrive at the Qantas Club Cairns at breakfast time, there will not be any hot options, according to the picture above. We would assume that if this option is on offer in the future, it would be a selection of Full English breakfast items. These would be hash browns, sausages, mushrooms, bacon, fried eggs and maybe some grilled tomatoes. If you want to see what the Full English looks like, click here, for a review of the Qantas International lounge Melbourne.
If you’re trying to go for the mini restaurant experience and like to finish your meal off with something sweet, there are a few little bites.
Beverages
Soft drinks are on tap. Alcohol is offered both self service and bar service.
Coffee is a national interest in Australia, so naturally it is on offer in every Qantas Club lounge in the country. You can get the DIY one from an automatic machine, or get the barista to do it.
Shower facilities
If you’re feeling grubby and need to freshen up the good news is, showers are available at the Qantas Club Cairns. If you have paid for a membership to use the lounge don’t waste it.
The showers aren’t flash like in an Emirates or Qatar lounge, where the showers resemble mini bathrooms, but hey, you’ll smell better and water is water right?
Final Thoughts
The Qantas Club Cairns domestic terminal is a pleasant lounge to while away a few hours. You probably don’t want to spend more than 2 hours here. If you have the option of using a lounge or not using a lounge, always use one! Don’t expect gourmet food and fine wine. Think of it more as a pleasant cafe experience with the option for a shower.
A lounge is always a better option than slumming it with the masses in the main airport terminal!

Updated Qantas Club Melbourne Domestic Business Class Lounge Review
Recently refurbished, one of the business class lounges at Melbourne Airport for domestic passengers gets a review from Only1invillage. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, travel has been a bit limited! We revisited the domestic lounge in July 2021 and are happy to report the food has improved.
There are 2 lounges at the domestic terminal in Melbourne for business class passengers. Here we review the Qantas Club lounge. Don’t confuse it with the Qantas Domestic Business Lounge. Definitely not same same!
Before you are allowed in remember Qantas has a strict dress code. To ‘ensure an enjoyable experience’ make sure you read this first. No beachwear! (Erm who wears that to fly anyway?) and no singlet tops for men. No UGG boots and no thongs! By thongs we mean flip flops. They’re not going to check your underwear! (See our Ultimate Aussie Slang Guide to help you understand more of the native lingo!) No sleepwear. Don’t show too much flesh or look like you’re heading off to the gym. Make sure your tops don’t have offensive slogans or images on them. (But an ‘I love Qantas’ T shirt is probably fine!)
Qantas call this particular domestic business lounge the Qantas Club. The domestic lounge got a much needed makeover. According to previous reviewers, the space for business travellers was like a dark, scary corridor! It was also cramped.
We visit on a busy Friday evening. It is definitely being tested to the maximum. Seating is sparse, conversation is loud and most of the shower rooms are busy! It is very unlike the pictures Qantas show you on their website.
On our next visit, compare the difference!
Here are the positives and negatives of the Qantas Club Domestic Business Class Lounge at Melbourne Airport. No wonder Qantas shorten it to The Qantas Club, it’s quite a mouthful to say, otherwise!
In July 2021, borders into and out of Australia are still closed. Therefore the only flights operating are domestic flights. It is understandably way less busy. There is much more space due to physical distancing requirements and the lack of travel in general.
POSITIVES Qantas Club Lounge Melbourne Airport
The lounge location is just after security. Turn right and go up the escalator. The other business class lounge is for when you turn left at the top of the escalators.
The lounge is spacious and has a light airy feel. It is very long. The placement of the bar and barista coffee machine is nice and central. The luxury touches of marble and shiny stainless steel are new and inviting. The new wooden floors give the lounge a modern touch. It looks so much better than carpet. Carpet is so last century!
The wi-fi is fast and there’s no need to ask for a password. There are plenty of charging points. Look under or near your seat.
There are various types of seating. You can grab a bar stool while you chat to colleagues or sit on the more padded chairs and armchairs. If you need to work there is desk seating too.
Shower and toilet facilities
Showers are available in the toilet areas. There’s no reservation system, you just go and try your luck.
Towels are a bit on the thin side. The glass is frosted so you can see if someone is using it (apart from the engaged red sign in the lock).
The central bar looks and feels like any classy Melbourne City watering hole. It’s clean and the service is friendly and efficient. You can order beer on tap or get bottled beer. There’s no help yourself beer at the Qantas Club. You can help yourself to wine and sparkling wine. Spirits have to be requested too. Qantas clearly want to keep you in a decent upright state before your flight.
The barista made coffee comes with latte art and tastes great. Melbourne lattes are good in the Qantas Club business lounge!
NEGATIVES Qantas Club Lounge Melbourne Airport
Catering
The biggest disappointment is the food. Avoid it, if at all possible. You probably don’t want to eat there unless you’re really hungry or like food you used to cook when you were a student living away from home! Take a look at the uninspiring food menu.
You can make your own toasted sandwich. There are various fillings on offer. In our opinion it wasn’t very different to the AMEX lounge at Melbourne International Airport. The taste of the one hot dish was very bland. A microwave meal for one is tastier than the pasta dish on offer.
Sorry Qantas catering, you need to lift your game. The food definitely doesn’t match the pictures on their website.
The good news is that by July 2021, the food had improved!
There was no more self service, as the Covid 19 pandemic meant social distancing, improved hygiene measures and maybe the chefs had more time to prepare better tasting food.
The wine selection is also mediocre. Qantas has not pulled out the stops when it comes to the grog! Maybe they’re thinking, no one will notice.
Busy busy busy.
The lounge is heaving at the end of a working week. Friday evening at the Qantas Club domestic lounge is like Friday evening in the city. There’s people everywhere, drinking and socialising. It’s noisy and you can hear everyone’s conversations.
Who can get into the Qantas Club?
A lot of people!
Business class ticket holders flying on a Qantas or Jetstar flight. But you wouldn’t come here, you would go next door.
Qantas Gold or Emirates Platinum Gold.
China Eastern Miles Gold.
Sapphire and Emerald business or first class travellers travelling on a Qantas flight. Again though, you won’t be happy here.
Buy Qantas Club Membership ($399 once off joining fee and $540 per annum). Not worth it in our
opinion.
Buy a day pass for $49 if you’re a Qantas Silver member. Must buy in advance. No at the door purchases.
Final Thoughts
The Qantas Club lounge is the poor cousin of the Qantas domestic business class lounge. There’s no Asian Spice Bar, it’s not peaceful and the food is a taste disaster! On the positive side it is much lighter and has a brighter feel than its predecessor. If you have the choice, head next door!
The above comments were made pre Covid 19 pandemic times! The food has now improved. With less travellers it felt more luxurious and less rushed.
When you leave this will be your seat on the plane if you’re flying business class domestically in Australia.
Do not confuse this lounge with the boringly named Qatar Airways Business Class Lounge in Doha. You seriously don’t want to go to that one, when you hold a business class ticket. Make sure you head to the Qatar Al Mourjan business lounge. After reading other reviews we are seriously excited to see the ultra modern lounge with a la carte dining options. We visit at breakfast time and have a 2 hour gap before our nextflight to Singapore on the Qsuiteconfigured plane.
After experiencing the awful and we mean, truly bad London Gatwick North Club Aspire Lounge, that Qatar uses for its business class passengers, we are mega eager to review Qatar’s flagship lounge in Doha.
Put your sunglasses on and prepare for some major bling! This is one shiny lounge with great lighting!
After passport control in Terminal 2 you go through the duty free shops. Keep following the signs.
The lounge is located up an escalator or you can gain access from a lift/ elevator.
Qatar business class dress code
There is no dress code. Ladies, please respect the fact that this is a Muslim state and dress appropriately.
Who can Get In
Anyone holding a Qatar Airways business class ticket or higher. Clearly, if you are travelling first class, you won’t lower yourself to mix with the plebs in business class. You will be using the Al Safwa first class lounge!
If you hold a Oneworld business class ticket, you can also come in. You cannot bring a guest, unfortunately, so leave the mother in law in the main terminal!
Economy class passengers of Qatar Airways can purchase entry for 450 Qatari Riyals which is about US$120. You probably only want to consider this option, if you have at least three hours to kill.
Seating in the qatar al mourjan business lounge
The Al Mourjan Lounge is enormous!
We had our work cut out navigating all the different areas and taking photos. It is a short stop over between London and Singapore, so try to book a flight with a longer layover than 2 hours to take advantage of all the Qatar Al Mourjan business class lounge has to offer.
The a la carte area has bench style and table and chair style seating. There is also booth style seating. The a la carte area is on the lower floor, furthest away from the entrance of the lounge.
Now if you don’t want to sit, there are also lots of snooze areas. Some of the snooze areas are more communal and some of them are for single snoozers.
Wifi and business facilities
There is a full on office area with separate cubicles and huge glass tables to work on in the business centre. It even had its own concierge. This is pretty impressive if you’re actually using a business class lounge, to do business in! Some overworked person was clearly loving the facilities, because he had lots of business paraphernalia spread out all over the place.
On the wired computers the internet is very fast and you don’t need a password.
The wi-fi internet is however another story. Despite not needing a password and your phone showing you’re connected, we could not surf. We didn’t have time to complain or get the staff to help us out for the wi-fi connectivity.
In the business area, there are also seats and a small breakfast bar selection. You can find pastries, fruit, bread and soft drinks. It’s more cafe style in an enclosed room.
Bathrooms and Showers at the Qatar Al Mourjan business lounge
Time to get wet! Unfortunately the showers areas were very busy. There is a wait list. There are however two shower areas and the one further from the entrance is less busy and there was no wait time.
Similar to the lounges that Emirates, Qantas and British Airways operate, the showers are more like mini bathrooms in the Qatar Airways AL Mourjan business lounge in Doha.
Food and Beverages in the Qatar Al Mourjan business lounge
Feeling hungry? You better be. The Al Mourjan lounge has a global deli and patisserie. In addition, there is a continental and oriental brasserie. Naturally, a full bar is also present. All food served is halal, with many vegetarian options too.
The presentation of the food is stunning. Well in the promotional pictures. We find it to be pretty standard. There are any negative reviews of this lounge, for the space, but not the food. Unfortunately, we didn’t think the breakfast selection was fantastic. Also the a la carte options were only sandwiches and salads. Ok, this may be different later in the day. We visited at breakfast time, so there were no exotic dishes to try for a la carte. Next time, we’ll have to schedule our lounge visit for a lunch or dinner time stop over!
There is a lot of food available, but the selections were similar in all the buffet areas.
But how does it all taste? Is it all beautiful on the outside but tasteless on the inside?
The breakfast
The cold options are a Western style selection. On offer for breakfast is fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals and muesli. For the Middle Eastern selection there is hoummous, olives, labna and flat breads.
Now onto the hot food. There’s what we call a full English. There are baked beans! We thought that was a little un-classy. Baked beans do not present themselves well in any container.
There’s also international food for the hot buffet, like pasta and spiced meat options.
;
The beverages
Any international business class lounge worthy of its class has to have a good selection of alcohol. Whilst Qatar doesn’t offer premium alcohol, like Emirates does, the variety is good.
You must order the Qatar airways signature drink. It is a refreshing lemon and mint mocktail, made fresh to order. It even ran out on the Qsuite flight from Doha to Singapore, it is so popular! Make sure you order one in the lounge, if like us, you’re a new fan!
The soft drinks selection is pretty standard. Individual teas in sachets and coffee from a coffee machine. Disappointingly, even if you order a coffee from the bar, it’s not barista made, it comes from a pre-set menu machine.
Entertainment rooms
If you have a long stop over, take advantage of the playrooms. Indulge your inner child with a game of table football/ soccer. Why not hop inside the racing car and test your driving skills? If that doesn’t take your fancy, how about some good old-fashioned Nintendo?
Final Thoughts on the Qatar Al Mourjan business lounge
Some people have slated the Qatar Al Mourjan lounge as super sterile and devoid of character. We think it is a solid 7 out of 10. It is gigantic. It is spread over two floors. It is very shiny and clean. In keeping with being modern, we guess that goes hand in hand with the word sterile. Yes, the chairs are replicated all over the place and the eating booths and spaces lack character. It’s one thousand times better than the Qatar lounge at London Gatwick North (Club Aspire). Never, ever fly out of Gatwick, fly from London Heathrow. It’s a mistake we will never make again!
Gatwick North terminal in London is not the best airport for top business class lounges. Apart from the Emirates and Virgin Atlantic lounge there isn’t much to choose from. Qatar Airways uses the terrible Club Aspire Lounge for its business class customers at Gatwick. Avoid at all costs. The No.1 lounge Gatwick North is quite a decent offering. The No.1 lounge is also in the Priority Pass program. This means that entry to the lounge can be paid for and therefore is not that exclusive.
After passport control you go down into the ‘Lounge Pavillion’ area. Gatwick North is not a large terminal building. You cannot get lost. Just follow the signs for airport lounges.
number 1 lounge class dress code
They say it’s a smart casual dress code for this lounge. However people are wearing jeans, shorts, track suit pants/bottoms and T shirts. There are a few people wearing shirts, but, the majority of people are wearing casual clothes. Not many people wear ‘business’ clothes in business class anymore.
Who can Get in
Anyone can get in since the No.1 Lounge is a paid lounge too. It is part of the Priority Pass Program. So if you have a few hours to kill you can pay $30 US to get in. There is a time restriction of 3 hours for the lounge when it’s busy. Pre-booking is possible. Opening times are daily 04:00 to 22:00.
Seating in the no.1 lounge Gatwick
The lounge is spacious. There’s a big bar area and a separate dining area. In addition there is a library area with comfortable sofas and bench style seating. Don’t miss your flight by sitting near the big TV, adjacent to the bar area.
There’s a quiet area outside the library area with a comfortable long sofa.
Bathrooms and Showers number 1 lounge Gatwick
This is an easy part of the review. There are not any showers!!! The toilets are however reasonably glamourous. They contain L’occitane hand soap which is a leading French cosmetics brand. The toilets have shiny black tiles and are modern.
Food and Beverages at the number 1 lounge Gatwick
The food and beverages consist of hot and cold dishes. There are also some pretzel like snack foods. All the food is arranged in one central area, with options to take your food all over the lounge. There are small round bar tables to eat at, long communal benches or formal dining tables.
The Dinner
We visit at dinner time. The hot food doesn’t look great, it is all a bit brown. There are some salads and vegetables to brighten up the spread.
The beverages
The bar area is comfortable and has three beers on tap.
There is a bar person to fix you a cocktail. The selection of alcohol is pretty much like the selection in other Priority Pass lounges, like the one in Bangkok we have also reviewed.
The tea selection is pretty standard. Black tea and herbal teas by Twinings. You can get hot water from the coffee machines which are next to the tea bags.
The coffee machines make ok cappucino and lattes.
Soft drinks are available too. Some mystery juice is on offer.
Wifi and charging stations
The wifi wasn’t working and no one knew the password! The computer stations outside the lounge were not working either.
The grumpy staff member on the door telephoned someone and they had no idea. That’s a real strike against a lounge. Wi-fi that works is a minimum expectation for travellers.
Final Thoughts on the no. 1 lounge Gatwick
Here’s a summary of what you get and what you don’t in the No.1 lounge at Gatwick North terminal in London.
There’s natural light, which always makes you feel less claustrophobic when on lower levels of an airport terminal. However, since we visit at night we don’t feel the benefit of sunlight.
The lounge is a reasonable size, unlike the Club Aspire Lounge we visit on the same day. There’s enough space to feel like you’re getting away from the crowded terminal.
Adding some showers would be a great idea, in our humble opinion.
Although the food isn’t anywhere near gourmet standard, at least it is edible! That isn’t to say that it is tasty, it is palatable if you’re hungry. The drinks selection is what we expect from a Priority Pass Lounge, this being our third worldwide lounge in the program. The Bangkok Miracle First Class Lounge has far better food, even offering 5 made to order dishes which were good. Click here to read about the Bangkok Miracle First Class Lounge.
Most importantly, in the 21st century, everyone wants wi-fi that works.
Qatar Business Class Lounge Gatwick also known as the Club Aspire lounge Gatwick
Qatar does not have a business class lounge at Gatwick Airport in London. Instead Qatar business class customers must use the Club Aspire lounge Gatwick. This is probably the worst business class lounge we have ever been to! Yes, even the one in Denpasar, Bali is better! At least the one in Bali had a shower. Albeit a shower you wouldn’t want to use, but, still, it has a shower!
Before entering, we must say that Qatar make it very difficult to find out which lounge is used at Gatwick for business class passengers. After many internet searches, we find out that Qatar business class passengers use the Club Aspire Lounge at Gatwick Airport. After even more reading of reviews of the Club Aspire Lounge Gatwick, we are not anticipating a great experience.
The Club Aspire Lounge is also in the Priority Pass program. This means that entry to the lounge can be paid for and therefore is not that exclusive. Avoid this lounge if possible. We checked out the No.1 lounge before this one and should have stayed in it. Little did we know. Oh well, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger as the saying goes!
Here is our review of the lounge that Qatar business class passengers use in London Gatwick.
After passport control you go down into the ‘Lounge Pavillion’ area. Gatwick North is not a large terminal building. You cannot get lost. Just follow the signs for airport lounges.
Club Aspire Lounge class dress code
There isn’t a dress code for this lounge. People are wearing jeans, shorts, track suit pants/bottoms and T shirts. There are a few people wearing shirts, but, the majority of people are wearing casual clothes.
Who can Get in
Anyone can get in since the Aspire Lounge is a paid lounge too. It is part of the Priority Pass Program. Qatar business class passengers are given a voucher which gives them free access to the Gatwick Aspire Lounge. There is a special area cordoned off for Qatar business class passengers, but it’s not great! Our top tip, if you’re a Priority Pass member, go to the No.1 Lounge instead.
Seating in the Club Aspire lounge Gatwick
The good news is that the lounge is quite new. There are 2 seater sofas and armchairs in a purple colour with lots of soft padding. The seating throughout the lounge is actually good and has variety.
The single chairs with the small tables and the padded wall section are very comfortable.
The lounge has different seating zones and near the TV there’s a place where groups can congregate on high backed leather booth like seats, you would find in a restaurant.
Bathrooms and Showers Club Aspire Lounge Gatwick
This is an easy part of the review. There are not any showers!!! Remain smelly and un-refreshed. The toilets smell like they could do with a good clean. There are bits of toilet tissue on the floor, which isn’t a good look.
Food and Beverages at the Club Aspire lounge Gatwick
The food and beverages are laid out in the centre of the lounge on two stone benches.
We visit in the evening, since we have a 20:40 hrs departure time to Doha with Qatar Airways on the 787 -8 Dreamliner plane. Note it isn’t the Qsuite.
The food choices are appalling. We can barely bring ourselves to eat anything. Everything looks dry and tasteless. The food looks like it has been sitting there for a long time.
The Dinner
We’re going to loosely call this dinner, by default. It’s evening when we visit. There are breakfast items like a pancake machine.
The beverages
The first shock is that you have to pay for champagne or Prosecco!
Any international business class lounge worthy of its class should have ALL beverages, alcoholic or non alcoholic, for free.
The selection of alcohol is pretty much like the selection in other Priority Pass lounges, like the one in Bangkok we have also reviewed.
The tea selection is pretty standard. Black tea and herbal teas by Twinings. At least it’s not Lipton black tea! Every true Brit tea drinker knows Lipton black tea sucks. We mean really sucks, you need about 3 tea bags per cup! Sorry to go on about it, but C is British and knows a good cuppa!
There’s an uninspiring coffee machine with soft drinks on tap next to it.
If you look down when you are at the centre bench, you’ll see a fridge with juices in it.
Wifi and charging stations
Final Thoughts on the Club Aspire lounge Gatwick
Here’s a summary of what you get and what you don’t in the Club Aspire lounge used by Qatar business class passengers.
It’s a horrible lounge and should not be used by an international carrier like Qatar for its business class lounges. The No.1 Lounge is better than this one. We will never, ever, fly out of London Gatwick again. What a disastrous way to begin your business class journey. We think, even if you don’t pay for this lounge, you’ll be highly disappointed! This is not the pre-flight experience we were expecting with an international carrier like Qatar Airways. We have thoroughly depressed ourselves looking at footage of the Qatar lounge at Heathrow on Youtube and other travel websites. Shame, we couldn’t sneak into the Emirates lounge!
You don’t get a lot of space. The Club Aspire lounge at Gatwick North terminal is tiny! Plus, there is not a dedicated working area or mini business area.
There is some natural light. But we are on a night flight, so it’s all artificial. Avoid this lounge if you can. Qatar Airways, if you are reading this, please stop using this lounge, it’s not fair on your business class passengers. It rates as a new low in business class lounges.
The food is inedible, unappealing and down right nasty looking. The drinks are ok, but paying for Prosecco, not even champagne, is just unacceptable.
It’s definitely memorable, for all the wrong reasons. Qatar say on their website for London’s Heathrow Qatar lounge that it is ‘warm, elegant and exclusive’. This lounge in comparison is exactly the opposite, anyone can use it and it looks cheap.
The lesson here is never fly out of London Gatwick with Qatar Airways, only fly from London Heathrow.
Here is our review of this shiny and modern lounge. Bangkok Miracle first class lounge is one you can pay for. Contrary to its name, it is not for first class passengers. Will water get turned into wine? How miraculous is the lounge? Read on to find out!
This lounge is part of the Collinson Group. The Collinson Group introduced the Priority Pass Program which basically allows anyone on any airline, regardless of travelling class, to use their network of lounges. The maximum time you can spend in here is 2 hours. Compare what you get in a fee paying lounge to other business class lounges directly affiliated with airlines such as Emirates, British Airways and Qantas.
Before entering, we expect it to be a bit like the American Express lounges in size and facilities offered. It is way fancier than an American Express lounge. Keep reading to find out why!
After passport control you go up to Level 3. The Bangkok Miracle first class lounge is located opposite gate D6. It is well signed, so you will be able to find it easily.
Our next flight is to Dubai via Emirates in economy class. Yes, we fly economy too! We don’t get to go to the Emirates business class lounge in Bangkok, unfortunately.
Bangkok Miracle First Class lounge dress code
There doesn’t seem to be any particular dress code enforced. However, be careful to cultural sensitivities in many countries.
Who can Get In
Anyone who has joined the Priority Pass Program and their guests! You can book a slot online or just go from lounge to lounge to see which one has space during busy periods.
Seating
The lounge is a good size. There is a variety of comfortable padded armchairs for lounging in and harder chairs at dining tables. They come in a variety of colours, textures and comfort levels.
The armchair style chairs have a small coffee table in front of them. You can bring your finger food and drinks to these areas. As usual, the tables are way too small to fit much onto them. However, most people aren’t travelling in large groups and you can always put two tables together, if the need arises.
When you walk past the seating area, in the picture above, you come to the dining area. There is a long dining bench to eat. If you prefer looking at your dining companion, there are smaller square tables with 4 chairs around each table.
If you turn left, when you come in there is another area of various seating available arranged in mini zones.
There’s a business area with a long communal desk with charging points. It’s at the back of the lounge.
Bathrooms and Showers
It’s shower time! There are two showers in the Bangkok Miracle lounge.
They are quite new, so still shiny and clean. The soap is of an unidentified brand. If you’re fussy or have sensitive skin, we recommend you bring your own.
Food and Beverages
Most business class lounges change their food according to the time of the day. We visit at 4pm so in between lunch and dinner time. There’s a reasonable variety of hot and cold choices, including some unique Thai food. However, there are breakfast items available. This is probably because the lounge wants to provide a 24 hour menu.
The food is rather reminiscent of an American Express Lounge. It is not quite up to the standard of an airline lounge like Emirates, Singapore Air or Cathay Pacific. The food selections however, are better than an American Express lounge. Plus, there is the added benefit of made to order dishes.
There’s no made barista made coffee, instead it’s a machine which whips up your latte or capuccino. Tea consists of a heated water jug and various caffeinated and herbal tea bags for you to choose from. If you need milk, there is milk in the fridge.
You do however get to order a selection of dishes, made freshly upon request. They are quite small, but, if you’re hungry, you can order more than one!
The Food
The best part of the Bangkok Miracle First Class Lounge is the made to order little dishes. We say little, because they really are small! You can order two at a time and they come out of the kitchen with lightning rapidity!
We really want to try everything but feel bloated so we only get the won ton soup to share.
There is a selection of hot food in the silver serving dishes with lids.
There are 5 hot dishes on offer. The most colourful dish is below. The range and taste of food is good. There are western and eastern options.
Throughout the lounge there are sweet and savoury treats. There are some wrapped foods, presumably so you can take them away.
There are two sides to the lounge and the food on both sides is the same. You can only get the freshly made dishes however, on the dining room side.
The beverages
The fridges contain the usual soft drinks, like, Coca Cola and Sprite, water and beer.
There is one red and one white wine offering. The hard liquor consists of familiar worldwide brands you can buy in the supermarket. It’s make your own and help yourself time!
The hot drinks selection is tea and coffee.
There is no bubble tea, which is a current craze in soft drinks. Basically it’s milky sweet tea with tapioca pearls in it. Know any lounge that serves this kind of tea? If you do, let us know. Maybe in Taiwan, where it originates from?
Wi-fi and Charging Points
If you get a wall seat, there are sockets in the wall by the armchairs. If you don’t, don’t panic! Look down at your feet and you will find charging points in the floor. The wi-fi did not seem to work in the lounge and we were too busy eating and taking photos to ask someone!
About the Collinson Group and Priority Pass
The Collinson Group is behind the huge network of airport lounges across the globe, that you can pay for. They have approximately 1300 lounges worldwide. They claim that their lounges ‘transform the airport experience from an endurance test to a moment of indulgence’. We can certainly agree with the sentiment of endurance when you fly economy class.
The idea of getting away from the noise and crowds of airport terminals for the masses is great. Whichever airline you fly with, you can gain access into one of these lounges by paying for each visit or if your membership allows, gratis.
Priority Pass membership rates
Here’s how much it will cost you to get into a Priority Pass Lounge.
There are three membership tiers: standard, standard plus and prestige.
Each tier gets more expensive as you would expect. Everything is priced in US dollars and converted back to your local currency when you join.
Standard yearly membership is $99 USD. Each time you want to use a Priority Pass Lounge you pay USD $32 and so does your guest.
Standard Plus yearly membership is $299 USD. You get ten free visits per year and thereafter $32 USD and so does your guest. Note, your guest doesn’t get 10 free visits!
Prestige annual membership is $429 USD. Every time you visit a Priority Pass Lounge, it’s free for you! Your guest pays, you’ve guessed it $32 USD to join you.
About Suvarnabhumi International Airport
Suvarnbumphi is a huge airport in Bangkok, the Thai capital. The airport itself is quite new. It was completed in 2006. Suvarnabhumi airport is all glass and metal, a shiny modern mega building. Previous to this, Don Meuang Airport was the international hub for flights into and out of the City of Angels. Yes, to Thai people ‘Krungthep’ is the city of angels. Only foreigners call Bangkok, by the name, well, Bangkok.
Flights still land and take off from Don Meuang. Notably the low cost carrier Air Asia still uses Don Meunag International. The ‘new’ Suvarnabhumi Airport has a direct sky train link to Phaya Thai station which is on the co- constructed German – Thai built sky rail (BTS – Bangkok Transit System). You can also get a free transit bus between Don Meuang and Suvarnbumphi.
Final Thoughts
Here’s a summary of what you get and what you don’t in the Bangkok Miracle First Class Lounge.
You are on limited time. You can stay for a maximum of 2 hours only. However, we stayed longer and no one asked us to leave!
It’s quite a large and spacious lounge with some seats overlooking the main terminal. This means you can hear all the noise of the people at the gates nearby. But, that also means, there is an occasional plane to look at.
You get some natural light and free wi-fi.
There’s a shower if you need to freshen up.
What you don’t get is gourmet food. Don’t expect the food to be up to the standard of a ‘real’ business class lounge. However, the food is quite decent.
You also don’t get premium alcohol and barista made coffee. All in all, it’s a decent offering and a space to get away from the crowds in the main terminal building (even though you can see people through the glass!)
Here is our review of this shiny and modern lounge. It is spacious and comfortable with fast Wi-fi. A calm oasis to relax in, before your long haul flight. We visit at both breakfast and lunch time. The menu changes at mid day. Only1invillage tells you what you get and what you don’t, in the coffee Capital of Australia!
Australia’s national carrier Qantas has recently spent a lot of money refurbishing its domestic lounges. Are the lounges of the same standard for international passengers in Melbourne, Australia? When Down Under, find out if you’re getting a dud or a gem, when you fly through or from Melbourne International.
Quick Index Qantas International Business Lounge Melbourne
After passport control in Terminal 2 you go through the duty free shops. Keep following the signs. The lounge is located down an escalator and is opposite the Singapore Airlines and American Express Lounge.
Qantas International business class dress code
Quite a lot of people can use this lounge. Before you get dressed though, please read our guide of what to wear and what not to wear! How embarrassing if you get refused entry because you’re not properly dressed!
Who can Get In
Emirates code share customers who are flying business class can use this lounge, but will probably opt for the Emirates lounge. Also business class passengers of the following airlines. Get ready for the long list! Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Sri Lankan Airways, LATAM (Chilean), China Airlines, China Southern, China Eastern, Garuda Indonesia, Fiji Airways, Jetstar, Vietnam Airlines and Sichuan Airlines.
You can also gain entry if you have racked up enough points with your airline. Usually if you’re in the top two tiers and have jewel status of at least a sapphire, you can use the Qantas international business lounge in Melbourne. For Qantas you have to hold gold status. For Emirates, gold and platinum status gets you in. If you’re a Oneworld alliance flyer and have sapphire or emerald status, come on in!
Lastly, if you’re a Qantas Club member or you have a single entry pass, then come on in and relax.
Seating
The good news is that the lounge is very big. It can hold up to 350 people apparently. Still you don’t want it to be full and at capacity! You come to a lounge to get away from the terminal crowd.
The best thing for families with small children, is the play area. It would be better however, if it was enclosed, so you can’t hear the screeching of the little darlings. Take a leaf out of Emirates’ children’s area in Dubai. For a review of the Emirates business class lounges in Dubai, click here.
There’s a business area with a sleek long desk and photocopier machine/printer at one end, just after the reception desk. Set up here if you need to get some work done.
The seats range from armchairs in small groups to bar stools. They come in a variety of colours, textures and comfort levels. As usual, the tables are way too small to fit much onto them. However, most people aren’t travelling in large groups and you can always put two tables together, if the need arises.
Bathrooms and Showers
Close your eyes it’s time for the shower shots!
You ask for a towel and an amenity kit at reception. It isn’t help your self service and there is no attendant like at the Qantas Sydney international lounge.
The shower area is located in the middle of the lounge.
There are also separate toilet areas.
The showers have a toilet inside them too, so they’re more like a mini bathroom.
The toiletries have been exclusively designed for Qantas by Aspar. The 500ml body lotion retails at $50AUD per bottle. When you get on the A380 Qantas plane, inside your amenity kit, you will find an exclusive offer for Aspar products. You enter a code on the Aspar website and you get $50AUD discount. Conditions apply.
Food and Beverages
Feeling hungry? Like all business class lounges, the food changes according to the time of the day. We visit at breakfast time on one occasion and another time for lunch. There’s a very good, not quite excellent, variety of hot and cold choices, including Qantas’ signature ‘made to order’ dish of the day.
The drinks selection never changes, don’t worry. You can still mix yourself a cocktail at 8am!
Being in Melbourne you are guaranteed great coffee. Barista made is best. There are 2 self service machines, but who in their right mind uses them, when you’re in the coffee capital of Australia?
The breakfast
The cold options are a Western style selection. On offer for breakfast is fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals and muesli.
Now onto the hot food. It’s what we call a full English.
For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s pretty tasty, but, not so healthy. Fried or grilled sausages, bacon, eggs, mushroom and hash browns are standard. For the health component grilled tomatoes are usually offered too. It’s not all bad!
If that’s too unhealthy for you, you can always try the special dish of the day. It is cooked to order, so it’s guaranteed to be fresh. The business lounge plate of the day is next to the barista coffee bar. You place your order and hang around for about 5 minutes. They call your name, when your food is ready.
The Lunch
At midday the breakfast is removed and replaced with lunch offerings. Cereals and yoghurts are replaced with salads. Grilled tomatoes and bacon change to various hot dishes. Presentation wise, Qantas comes second to an Emirates lounge, both in taste and presentation.
If you don’t fancy making your own sandwich, you can make your own salad or choose from two ready made versions.
If you’re after something hot, there are two dishes on offer.
If you still have room, there is a small cake selection.
The beverages
Any international business class lounge worthy of its class has to have a good selection of alcohol. Whilst Qantas doesn’t offer premium alcohol, like Emirates does, the variety is good.
The selection of alcohol is vast. You can mix your own cocktails for breakfast at two stations in the business class lounge. No one is going to judge you!
The quality of the wines isn’t as good as in the Emirates lounges, but much better than the Qantas Club in the domestic terminal.
The soft drinks selection is pretty good too. Teas are available in single sachets. Freshly pressed vegetable juice is available too.
What the Qantas lounge does have over the Emirates lounge, is the barista coffee. The fresh barista coffee is excellent. Well, this is the coffee capital of Australia, after all! The latte art is pretty impressive too.
The only drinks missing are the bubble teas and smoothies. We don’t know any lounges that offer these! If you do, let us know.
Final Thoughts
Here’s a round up of what you get and what you don’t in the Qantas international business class lounge.
You get plenty of space. A dedicated children’s play area. Comfortable spaces to sit or work. A big variety of beverages. A good selection of hot and cold food. Showers to freshen up in. Fabulous barista coffee.
What you don’t get is natural light. Also, the cleaning up of dirty plates isn’t as good as it could be. Apart from that, there’s not too much to complain about. We enjoyed our time in the Qantas international business class lounge Melbourne. It beats having to cook breakfast or lunch for yourself!
Is Bali Business Class Lounge the worst in the world?
Using the Bali business class lounge in Denpasar may not be the treat you are expecting. One of the many perks when flying business class is the pre flight experience. Using a business class lounge to freshen up after you get thrown out of your hotel is usually a pleasure. Nibbling on local delicacies is another business class perk. But, in the Bali business class lounge, you may change your mind, after reading our review!
The lounge is also called the Premier Lounge. The problem with this business class lounge starts at the entrance.
Lots of airlines and we mean, lots of airlines share this business class lounge. Qatar, Emirates, Qantas, Jet Star, Thai, Singapore, Malaysia, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern, China Southern, Philippine Airlines, Air New Zealand and the list goes on! The Bali business class lounge can also be accessed if you have certain priority passes.
That’s a scary amount of airlines sharing one business class lounge!
Where is the Bali business class lounge located?
After immigration at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, it’s quite crowded and very humid. The air conditioning can’t quite keep up. You have to weigh up the pros of sitting in the crowded ground floor terminal or the Bali business class lounge. It’s not a huge airport, so finding the lounge isn’t difficult. From the ground floor at Ngurah Rai International Airport you can see the Premier Lounge and it isn’t huge.
Let’s step inside and see what the Bali business class lounge is really like. Is it really the worst business class lounge in the world?
The seating options at the Bali business class lounge
This is the view when you step inside the business class lounge at Ngurah Rai International Airport after immigration.
To give it some credit, the Bali business class lounge is at least cooler than on the ground floor with the masses.
When you go to a business class lounge, you expect two things, comfortable spaces and great food and drink. In the Bali business class lounge you get the comfortable seats, but, only when not busy. With over 15 airlines sharing the Bali business class lounge, you’ll be lucky to get a seat. Most business class lounges are not busy. There is always somewhere to sit comfortably. However, this space quickly fills up and you’ll find yourself very close to strangers.
The shower and toilet facilities in the Bali business class lounge
You also expect toilet and shower facilities above and beyond what is on offer in the main terminal. There are toilet and shower facilities, but they are very small and of dubious cleanliness.
The food on offer at the Bali business class lounge
Now onto the most disappointing aspect. We thought British Airways was bad and the Qantas Club Lounge in Melbourne. The Bali business class lounge can definitely win the title of worst food on offer for business class passengers. Judge for yourself.
There is one saving grace though in terms of food on offer….
The beverages selection at the Bali business class lounge
Now onto the beverages. As Indonesia is a Muslim country there is no alcohol available. Even though the island of Bali is mainly Hindu, the lounge does not offer alcoholic beverages, which is not a problem for us. You can select soft drinks from a free standing fridge.
There are also some ‘fruit’ juices. When we say fruit juice, it is concentrated fruit juice, not freshly squeezed.
The hot drinks selection at the Bali business class lounge
There’s no hand made latte art going on here!
Final Thoughts
It’s a place to escape the humidity and heat of the main terminal. You might as well go since you have a business class ticket. You can get complimentary water and canned drinks. If you’re desperately sticky, you can have a shower. If you want great food, you’re better off staying downstairs. You might get a soft seat, you might not. That wraps up the review of the Bali business class lounge by Only1invillage. Do you agree? Have you been to a worse one?
Post a comment below, we would love to hear from you!
5 enticing reasons to use the Emirates Business Class Lounge KL.
The luxurious emirates business class lounge KL is situated on the upper level of KLIA. Malaysians love using acronyms. KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) is not to be confused with KLIA2. KLIA2 is the hub for the no frills airline Air Asia and is NOT walkable. There is a train called the KLIA Express which connects the two terminals. Make sure you go to the correct terminal or your FOMO (fear of missing out) will kick in!
You are welcomed with the bright golden signature colours of the Emirates lounge. Access is granted in any number of ways. All business and first class ticket holders. Skywards Gold members travelling in economy can access Emirates Business Class Lounge KL. If you’re a silver member, you can’t come in here, but you can when you get to Dubai.
This lounge, like all Emirates Lounges are open 24 hours a day.
Here are our top 5 reasons you must visit Emirates, business class lounge when in KL.
5 Emptiness and luxury at Emirates Business Class Lounge KL
Now some people might argue that having no one in the lounge equates to no atmosphere. Personally, we love an empty lounge. The space looks cleaner, the staff are way friendlier and it’s like sitting in your own living room. The large screen TVs keep you informed on current affairs and your flight departure. We have read reviews that this lounge can get very busy, but, this was not our experience.
4 Refresh and relax
A business class lounge should be an area to relax in. A space to catch up on some emails or research your next destination. There are a few different areas to spread out in. The lounge is lovely and cool. The famous humidity of the Kuala Lumpur weather won’t get you in here. You can definitely spend 3 hours here easily. Take a refreshing shower, as on board, unless you’re first class, there’s no shower for you! Collect a towel and toothbrush from the attendants or just help yourself. The shower pressure is good!
3 Comfortable choice of seats and varied seating areas
There are cosy seats for families and friends. Individual armchairs for business and lone travellers are covered in leather. You can choose to sit in a cafe style area or a more restaurant looking area. There’s an office space too complete with photocopier and printer. If you’ve been to other lounges, you’ll notice the same signature colours and styles of the seats.
2 Views of aeroplanes
For those who love watching the aeroplanes, the Emirates Business Class Lounge KL has you covered. Watch luggage and catering being loaded. Imagine your comfort on the upper deck of your A380. Dream about your arrival destination as you sip on top quality champagne.
1 The outstanding food and beverages selection
This is where Kuala Lumpur really stands out. The quality and freshness of the ingredients used are first class. The presentation and the taste of the food is as good as a restaurant. Gourmet dishes and definitely standout presentation.
As you can see from the pictures below, care has been taken in the way the food is prepared and plated up. Even when you make your own bigger plate, it still looks good. Everything is very clean and shiny in the Kuala Lumpur Emirates Lounge. Luckily for us, we get to the food before anyone else and so there aren’t any spills or stains in the buffet area.
You won’t find any cheap and nasty wines in the KL lounge. All the wines retail at about $35 a bottle. (We like to do our research!) The wines are expensive and the champagne French. Emirates don’t take short cuts on the beverages list in Kuala Lumpur.
Have you had the pleasure of a stop over in KL? Do you agree with us that Emirates provides a luxurious lounge with great facilities? Want to compare more business class lounges around the world? See more of our reviews below!
The American Express Lounge Melbourne opened in March 2018 so everything is shiny and new! They seem keen to make a good impression. Only1invillage pays a visit and we have captured our impressions and hope you enjoy the following review.
So dive right in or skip to what you’re interested in…
The American Express lounge Melbourne is open from 6 am to 11 pm 7 days a week. This covers most of the time you want when it comes to lounge access. Access is provided to AMEX credit card holders of the following cards. All Amex cards which contain the word ‘platinum’, ‘diamond’, ‘business’, ‘corporate’, ‘ultimate’ or ‘centurion’. Gold isn’t good enough! Check here to see if your card is eligible.
The AMEX lounge is located in the international departures section only. There is no Amex domestic lounge, unfortunately. The lounge itself is past the shopping section and approximately in the centre of the blue section of the map below. There are signs for lounges at the start of the blue section to the left and the right, although they don’t specify which lounges. If you head to the centre you will see an escalator leading downstairs with a sign at the top to various lounges including the AMEX lounge.
SEATING
The seating is divided into two sections. Firstly, a dining section with tables, chairs and a bench and secondly, a lounge section with soft, comfortable seats in a separate room. The capacity of the AMEX lounge is 65 and it has enough seating to cover this. The seats themselves are comfortable and covered in leather or pleather (fake leather). You can sit by yourself or cosy up on a couch! However, there’s only a few double seats, so nab them before someone else does! In addition, there are power point sockets at all the seats in the lounge and at the tables.
The tables also have USB charging points. Note – there are no USB charging points at the sofas. There are comfortable individual lounge chairs which offer a privacy screen, power and a bench to work on your laptop, if you’re feeling in the mood.
FOOD
The selection of food and drinks for breakfast at the American Express Lounge Melbourne is reasonable. It includes; yoghurt, fresh fruit, Bircher muesli (a particular favourite of Only1invillage, so big brownie points!), cereal, toast, cold meats, cheese, salad and pastries. There is also pre-cooked food consisting of, scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans and hash browns in the silver serving trays. For our American readers, hash browns in Australia come as one piece of cut up potatoes mushed into a flat cake shape and deep fried. Whereas on our travels to Hawaii and beyond, American hash browns are small bits of potatoes fried or roasted.
If you visit later in the day, the menu will change to non- breakfast items. There will be sliders, aka a mini burger or crudites (raw vegetables). The sweet options are little cakes and the dessert du jour, the meringue based, macarons, instead. For dinner, more substantial ‘meals’ will be served. Overall, the food is of a good standard and reasonable variety, given the fact that this isn’t a paid lounge or business class ticket dependent. In fact, it is quite comparable to the Qantas Club lounge at the domestic terminal in Melbourne. It is on a smaller scale than the Qantas Club, but, the food quality is similar.
BEVERAGES
Now onto the beverages selection at the American Express Lounge Melbourne. There is a large fridge with canned soft drinks and bottles of water, both sparkling and still. Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Fanta and soda water are additionally on tap, for self-service. Four different fresh juice mixes in large glass jugs. You can even see the pith in 2 of the juices! Again, well done Amex for this fresh touch. In addition, there is a dedicated barista who is also responsible for the alcoholic beverages.
The alcoholic beverages consist of a good variety of spirits, wines and beers of a reasonable quality. There is Penfolds Koonunga Hill and a selection of mid-range $20 wines. The beer selection has some standard beers like Carlton Dry, Pure Blonde and standard spirts such as Courvoisier VS, Canadian Club, etc. Overall a reasonable, good range of mid-range quality drinks, but not as good as say Emirates business class lounge where you can expect $40 wines and Hennessey VSOP.
SERVICE
There were two staff around the lounge and we presume more in the kitchen! They were friendly and professional and one of them made a point of saying hello to several of the customers.
FACILITIES
There is no shower in the bathroom and this is probably due to the fact that the American Express Lounge Melbourne isn’t trying to compete with other business class lounges. Moreover, it doesn’t advertise itself as a business class lounge. Although, it would have been a nice touch! Rumour has it, showers will be installed ‘soon’. As soon as they are, we’ll let you know! Stone benches, automatic taps and electric hand driers are clean and modern in the bathroom. WIFI is complimentary and fast.
FINAL THOUGHTS
In conclusion, since entrance to the AMEX lounge doesn’t require an expensive business class ticket, this is a great perk for economy class passengers. Moreover, if you are considering a new credit card, this is a big benefit as many of the AMEX credit cards will grant you free access. See here which cards will grant you access https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/credit-cards/membership/travel/airportlounge/
The American Express Lounge Melbourne International is comfortable. It has a decent range of good food, a dedicated barista and an average range of mostly non-premium alcoholic drinks. In addition, there are facilities to do some work for laptop warriors. We enjoyed our time here and are glad the AMEX lounge has opened in Melbourne!
Finally, we aren’t paid by Amex to write this review, but we’re open to offers!
Only1invillage tells you what you get and what to expect at the Qantas Business Class Lounge at Sydney international airport. Read on to discover and compare the food, the booze, the seats and the showers in the Qantas business class lounge Sydney International.

Only1invillage visits the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International mid afternoon. Most importantly, it’s not too busy, not too quiet. Firstly, upon entry you will notice that the lounge is long and narrow with modern decor. Secondly, a central aisle dominates which houses the wine and barista bar. Thirdly, drinks of an alcoholic and soft variety with cafe style snacks in large glass containers can be seen. Finally, you breathe a sigh of business class lounge relief.
the seating at the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International
There are various seating options as in all business class lounges. Armchairs, bar stools, chairs around tables. However there are no sofas or couches. All seats are individual.
the food
at the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International
Due to having skipped breakfast , Only1invillage is feeling ravenous, so we decide to attack the food offerings. A few hot dishes and we mean a few are on offer. In addition, the accompanying sides, salads and dessert are a bit sad looking. Similarly the cheese board does nothing to excite the taste buds. However, compared to British Airways business class lounge T5 at London Heathrow, this is posh!
The hot food choices are very limited. There are 3 choices, one of which is pasta.
the beverages
at the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International
The drinks selection, however, is much better. There is a wide variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Best of all is coffee made to order including turmeric lattes! Having beer taps is a cool novelty. Unfortunately the wines on offer where of an average standard they where on average $20 bottles and a bit disappointing for a business class lounge.
the f and b plated up
the shower and toilet facilities
at the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International
Now for those most noteworthy shower and toilet shots!
Not intending to take a shower, just a few photos! Probably not the most luxurious looking. Even the attendant said they were not that nice as she asked why I was taking photos. Maybe should not have bothered, but, we know you will want to see the photos!
conclusion
the pros
at the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International
First of all, there is lots of space, but seating can be hard to find if busy. Another good feature is that the lounge is bright and light with big windows on one side. Food is better presented than British Airways business class lounge at T5 in London. Likewise, it tastes a little better too. However, the presentation, variety and quality doesn’t beat the Emirates business class lounge in either Melbourne or Dubai. Where is the smoked salmon? That’s a minimum expectation in our view for a business class lounge. Showers are always a welcome feature at a business class lounge, even if they’re not as good as in an Emirates lounge.
the cons
at the Qantas Business Class Lounge Sydney International
Staff are slow to clear tables which seems unprofessional. Also the wine offered at the Qantas business class lounge at Sydney International was in the 80 points range. In comparison, the Emirates lounge has wines that score in the 90s in the James Halliday wine guide. Lastly, there is a major lack of power points for charging devices. All said and done, ultimately better than sitting with the hoi polloi!
British airways business class lounge T5 London heathrow
Clear immigration and read on to see what to expect from the British Airways business class lounge T5 London Heathrow. Terminal 5 at London Heathrow is a bit eerie. When you enter there is a distinct lack of humans and lots of machines making you feel like you’re in a Sci-Fi film. No dedicated check in lane for business and first class passengers which definitely does not leave you feeling special. Terminal 5 is where ALL BA planes fly out from. The usual high end designer shops and champagne and caviar bar are present at Terminal 5.

The presentation of the food is disgraceful for a business class lounge. It reminds us of school days and canteen food. Baked beans! I know they’re British, but, seriously?
amenities and spa treatments
All business class guests are entitled to a free 15 minute treatment at the Elemis Spa but book well in advance or you won’t get a slot! You can only book on arrival, so get there mega early.

The beverages are much better presented than the food! Ample space but cleanliness needs improvement. Staff are slow to clear dirty crockery.

British Airways business class lounge T5 London Heathrow review
Relieved to see that there are humans at Terminal 5 London Heathrow, only1invillage decided to book a spa treatment at the Elemis spa. You should book online or phone beforehand because it is very busy, but, if you don’t get an appointment, you can acquire a few samples of Elemis products as a consolation prize!
freshen up
It is disappointing not getting a facial or quick massage as this seems like a great business class perk. Head to the showers to wash off the disappointment! The showers are very clean and an attendant is ready to hand you a clean towel, with a smile. You cannot book online for your free Elemis treatment, so we guess your best option is to arrive very early!
The showers in the business class lounge T5 LHR. Spacious and clean. An attendant hands you clean towels upon entry. Like a mini bathroom, with toilet.
Head up the escalators to the main business class lounge areas.
lounge Seating
There is varied seating available ranging from sofas and couches for families, restaurant style seating, armchairs with window views and bar seating. The business centre has a printer and of course, free wifi.
You might want to sit with your family on the couches and sofas, or if travelling alone, opt for the armchair style seating (pictured above)
Food
Only1invillage was seriously underwhelmed with the food offerings being presented in the business class lounge, the presentation and choice of food can be vastly improved with some quick fixes! Change those dodgy serving bowls and deep tubs and give guests metallic serving implements.
slim pickings for a healthy meal
Beverages
Fortunately the beverage offerings are well presented and there are quite a few choices ranging from Twinings brand tea to a wide variety of liquor and spirits. You can even make your own cocktails, should you have the inclination and the skill of course!
A cafe style bar for hot beverages
The cold drinks and alcohol bar
Plenty of wine to choose from!
Improvements
In summary, our main criticisms of the British Airways business class lounge T5 London Heathrow, are the food and general cleanliness. The quality and choice of food is really not up to the standard of a business class lounge which is poor considering the price of a business class ticket.
The staff needs to be quicker on the clearing and cleaning of tables when guests leave the various areas. Only1invillage also notices a number of flies hovering around the cafe bar areas in addition to a number of stains which have not been cleaned up. Consequently, this adds a less than luxurious feel to the lounge which one has come to expect from experiencing other business class lounges around the world.
Positives
The BA business class lounge at Terminal 5 London Heathrow is very spacious coupled with a good variety of seating and seating areas. The showers are on a completely separate floor and each shower cubicle is in fact a mini en suite bathroom, complete with toilet, consequently making it feel more private. The beverages selection is vast compared to the food selection with plenty of soft drinks as well as alcoholic beverages available.
In conclusion, if food is really important to you in a business class lounge, you might want to eat outside the business class lounge. However, if you just need refreshment of a liquid variety and don’t mind eating bland food, the BA business class lounge is worth a visit! There’s plenty of space to relax and a business area to catch up on that all important work or social media presence!
